Grade R is a crucial stage in preparing children for formal school. Our Grade R teacher creates a playful and exciting learning environment that helps our Grade R learners to reach their full potential in the development of language, numeracy, problem-solving and motor coordination skills.

- Language and Literacy Development – Learners learn to form and identify the letters of the alphabet. Our teachers use Letterland stories to make learning about letters fun and exciting!
- Numeracy and Early Math Development – In Grade R, learners work on recognizing and writing the numbers 1-10. Games and physical objects are used to improve pattern recognition and introduce addition and subtraction.
- Gross and Fine Motor Skills Development – The Grade R teacher makes ample time for learners to increase their fine motor and gross motor skills through cutting paper, threading beads and playdough play; as well as, through running, climbing, hopping and skipping games.
- Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills – These skills help children to understand logic and reasoning, and, as a result, improve their decision-making skills. It is developed through basic science experiments and puzzles and building games.
